Civic Exchange Energy Forum 14
Expanding Hong Kong’s Nuclear Power Base:

What are the real issues to consider?

Dear [TITLE] [LASTNAME],

Thank you so much for your registration to  Civic Exchange Energy Forum 14. This is a confirmation for you that the forum for is on Wednesday, 6 October 2010, and a seat is already reserved for your participation. Please kindly find the confirmed venue and updated programme below again for your information.

BACKGROUND:

China is dramatically increasing its investment in nuclear power as a key element of its energy plan.  Nuclear power is a way to reduce dependence on fossil fuels and the carbon emissions they generate. Four more reactors are either in operation or nearing completion at Daya Bay, whose two reactors currently supply some 25% of Hong Kong’s electricity. As Hong Kong’s energy policy and mix change, it is likely that more of Hong Kong’s electricity will come from nuclear sources in Guangdong. What are the issues Hong Kong should know about?

Civic Exchange is organizing a workshop to brief participants on the latest information about nuclear power, to update them on China’s energy and nuclear strategies, and look more closely at the potential implications for Hong Kong and the Pearl River Delta going forward.

This workshop will feature presentations from the following experts, followed by a moderated discussion.
